Ikea Upcycled Record Drinks Cabinet Oak Mid-Century

This was a great find in my local Rowcroft charity shop, so ONLY ONE AVAILABLE! Originally made by IKEA as a tall storage cupboard with 2 drawers (see last pics). Its made from 28mm thick veneered oak panels jointed with solid metal connectors. So firstly, I dismantled the unit into its panels to clean & strip them of the heavy dark stain. The original plastic feet had to be remove & oak plugs used to fill the holes(left side). The inside faces were then painted with 2 coats of Frenchic Blackjack eco emulsion, then polished for a high quality robust finish. I then applied 3 coats of dark linseed oil to the outside faces to nourish the wood & give it a contemporary finish. Beeswax was used to polish. I have added solid black metal angled hairpin legs to hold the unit firm with superb style. Each compartment holds 100 LPs , so 200 in total. It will happily take all bottle sizes too as a drinks cabinet. Measures: 80cm width, 62cm high (41.5cm without legs) & 40cm deep. COSTING – 10 hours labour, 27 parts, 8 donation to Rowcroft. CUSTOM – I can refinish this unit in a different colour if you prefer( 30 extra) It is also possible for me to make a unit of different sizes, so please ask for a quote.
