Early 1800S English Sheffield Fused Silverplate Wine Champagne Cooler Bucket

Presented is a fine old English silverplate wine or champagne cooling bucket, dating to the early 1800s. This is a true piece of Sheffield fused plate, with a heavy sterling silver plating over copper. The bucket is made in a handsome, classical design, branch form handles & a gadrooned rim around the top & the foot. On the front is an inset plaque of sterling silver, finely engraved with a crest of an elk’s head. The interior portion of the bucket is tinned, as you’d expect, & the whole thing disassembles to allow ice to be placed in the space around the central bucket, to cool the wine without wetting the bottle. This piece is in great overall condition. There is some minor wear through the silver plating, notably on the interior rim & the high points of the decorations, but nothing of any stand-out significance. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, & no repairs. The cooler stands about 10 1/2 inches tall & measures about 10 1/2 inches across (including the handles).
