A lovely & elegant smokey brown glass decanter, designed by Domhnall OBroin in 1964 for Caithness, Scotland. Design is ‘Morven’, as per page 38 of Mark Hill’s Caithness Glass book. (Please see photo of the extract from the book with further details about the design.) This colour is Peat – a typically 1970s smokey warm brown colour, cased in clear glass. This design was produced until 1988, so circa late 1960s to mid 1980s. Distinctive angular shoulders & straight lines – fabulous classy design. This design of stopper also doubles up as a shot glass. ‘Peat’ colouring was used to compliment the whiskey contents, so most examples are in this colour-way. Quality item in good clean condition with no chips or rim nibbles. Stopper is great. There is a small bunch of scratches & one tiny impact mark together on one corner & side, see pictures 9 & 10.
