William Larue Weller 2013 Bourbon Whisky 68.1% ABV

From the 2013 release of Buffalo Trace’s Antique Collection, William Larue Weller’s 2013 high proof bourbon is a true monster, exploding with cinnamon, vanilla and massive spice. Truly a delicious whiskey. Nose: Very intense and rich. Offering up freshly juiced fruits (particularly prune), black pepper, warm custard and foam bananas. Some espresso beans, butterscotch and manuka honey. Palate: Perfumed and aromatic when it hits the tongue. There are herbal notes, hints of floral gums, warm custard again, hot buttered toast with honey, and strawberry and apricot jam. Finish: Long with cereal sweetness, corn and toasty oak.

The 2013 release of the William Larue Weller, the wheated expression in Buffalo Trace’s highly regarded annual Antique Collection bottlings. The 2011 release came second in the running for “World Whisky of the Year” in Jim Murray’s 2013.
