Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2012 Gift Box, 75 cl

Veuve Clicquot’s wonderful vintage Champagne provided here with its own gift box. One of the 17 Grande Marque Houses from Champagne. Dating back to 1772 the house has a rich and varied history. ‘Veuve’ translates as widow and is a reference to Barbe Nicole Ponsardin who ran the company from a very young age due to her husband’s early and untimely death. Her influence was clear within the house of Veuve Clicquot (the label’s distinctive colour still used today was her choice) but also spread across the Champagne region with her method of clarifying the wine being adopted by all the producers to this day.2012 was a testing year for growing Champagne but it turns out the effort was well worth it. For Veuve Clicquot the end result was a rich and intense Champagne with luscious citrus flavours beautifully balanced with nutty, almond aromas. A treat as always.

• Veuve Clicquot’s 67th vintage is a wonderfully bright and energetic expression of a particularly good year in the vineyards, the harvest of 2015 – which saw low rainfall and good sunshine – delivered excellent fruit.
• ON THE EYES: Bright yellow
• ON THE NOSE: Initial citrusy notes of orange, grapefruit and lemon zest followed by fruitier nuances of dried apricots, dates and marmalade. Next, buttery pastry aromas of biscuit, brioche and toast unfold, along with honey and roasted almonds and hazelnuts.
• ON THE PALATE: Elegant, tense and mineral in the mouth, you can expect a complex, lively champagne with a pleasing and lasting finish.
• PERFECT SERVE: Serve chilled between 8-10°C
