Rosso di Montalcino 2020, Il Poggione

Just gorgeous! Lovely rounded red fruit character, very easy and immediate, yet backed up by satisfying complexity and structure. Tuck right into it straight away, and enjoy over the next 2-3 years. Produced entirely from the Brunello variant of Sangiovese grapes, from Il Poggione’s younger vines, this is aged for 12 months in large casks before a period of bottle aging. Although such maturation is not required by law for Rosso di Montalcino, it mellows the tannins, and gives the wine a complexity that make it a delicious ‘poor man’s Brunello’.
