Definitely, the best whisky jug & ashtray combo we have seen, this stunning vintage 1930s duo is a real statement item. The ashtray is an elongated hexagonal shape & the water jug fits inside it with the same shaped base. The jug & ashtray are decorated in an attractive tartan pattern on a white background with shields on the front of the jug on either side of the spout containing the McNish Special Scotch Whisky name. Robert McNish was a Glasgow tobacco, wine & Spirit Merchant, who began blending whiskies using 40 Highland Malts, McNish blended whisky was always noted for its smooth taste, far more refined than the raw taste of the more harsh whiskies of Scotland. McNish is regarded as the oldest continuously available blended whisky in the world. The rim of the ashtray & the top & handle of the jug have been handpainted with red lines. The delicate nature of the red paint has resulted in some loss (three areas on jug rin & one on the handle) due to age & use. The back stamp on both items shows they were made between 1907 – 1937, the probably early 1930s or late 20s by Dunn Bennett & Co Ltd of Burslem in Staffordshire. What a stunning & very rare set this is! The jug measures 3.25 x 5 x 3 the ashtray is 6 x 4.25 x 1 They will be wrapped & packaged in recyclable materials including 100% biodegradable bubble wrap. We always combine shipping when weight allows & refund overages on overseas orders. This set will be covered by a small Insurance fee for the journey to its new home, fees added already.
