Pouilly Fuissé Vigne Blanche 2019, Saumaize-Michelin

On the nose, there is honeysuckle and acacia blossom, with yellow fruit and mineral notes. The palate is always silky-textured and well-balanced, with fresh fruit character, no heaviness and a hint of saline on the finish. Unlike today, in the past, the Maconnais produced more red wine than white. However, this site was always planted to Chardonnay vines, since the soil was well-suited to this variety: hence the name ‘Vigne Blanche.’ The vines are aged 60 years, and fermentation takes place in 100% oak barriques. Ageing for 12 months in French oak, with lees-stirring every ten days over nine months.
