Made by the truly talented Reenan Borman of Boschkloof Wines, Patatsblanc has been compared to Chablis for its classy, clean, lean, dry style. Unlike Chablis, (and more like the Mosel or Clare Valley) the soils are slate: giving terrific texture, and a distinctive, ‘mineral’, perhaps even salty tang. There are hints of greengage on the nose, and the savoury palate texture leads into a balanced and lingering finish. This blend of Colombard and Chenin Blanc offers a fabulous expression of the Montagu’s distinctive terroir within the Klein Karoo region.
