Oak Elk Salt & Pepper Shaker

This elk salt & pepper shaker set would be a nice addition to your cabin, camper or home. They are constructed by gluing 3 pieces of oak together to form a solid block. The shakers are then sawed so the bases are 2-1/4 square, tapering to about 1 at the top & are 3-3/4 tall. A hole is drilled through the shaker to hold the salt or pepper. Five holes are drilled into the top to allow for easy dispensing of fine ground salt & pepper. The bottom hole of the shaker is plugged with a rubber stopper. Four felt pads are placed on the bottom of the shakers to prevent scratching of any surface they sit on. A silhouette of a elk is glued on two apposing sides & an S or P is glued to the front of the shaker. The animals & letters are cut from 1/8 oak plywood with a scroll saw & stained a dark color to contrast the natural oak shade of the shaker. Because the shakers are hand sanded, not machined, no two shakers will have the same rounded edges. After sanding & applying the animals & letter, the shaker is finished with clear matt acrylic enamel, except for the bottom which is left natural to ensure no contamination of storage hole.
