Superb quality afromosia teak drinks cabinet designed by John Herbert for A. Younger furniture, part of the Volnay range, 1960s. This is a rarely found piece & provides great storage with glass shelves in top section & a split cupboard below…ideal for records also. It shows a nod towards more traditional furniture but with stylish modern finishing touches, trapezium legs, rounded handles – not at all dated & would suit the most modern of homes today. Younger furniture is of consistently higher quality than its rivals & was sold through Heals in London. John Herbert was an acclaimd designer pioneering new designes as head designer for Younger. He won several awards from the Furniture Makers Guild. The firm A. Younger prided itself on producing high quality & stylish furniture , keeping ahead of the competition & often influencing popular styles. in great condition, only minor marks consistent with usual use for age.
