Luc Lanel For Christofle Gallia Collection Champagne Bucket/Wine Cooler C.1935

A magnificent example of an Art Deco wine cooler / Champagne bucket by the famous French silversmith’s Maison Christofle, this example being part of their Gallia range. A striking, almost modernist design with lug handles & tapered shape, the bottom section with ribbed decoration. Designed by the celebrated Luc Lanel. The underside is struck with the Gallia mark used in the period c.1931-c.1935 containing an inscription O.GALLIA together with the Christofle mark, the chess mark flanked by O C for Orfvrerie Christofle. Just back from our silversmith’s workshop having been professionally cleaned & polished restoring it to it’s former glory. Excellent condition measuring 9 handle to handle x 7 3/4 x 8 1/4 tall.
