J.J. Whitley Violet Gin is the product of eight generations of distilling history. Its recipe uses a blend of eight botanicals including juniper, angelica root, coriander and liquorice with a natural flavour burst of the quintessential English country garden flower, the violet. A smooth and refined fragrance with a light delicate taste of violet rounded off with a subtle sweetness and soft scents of juniper.
One of the 3 key ingredients of all contemporary gin distillation is Angelica Root which ironically is the base of the Iris or Violet flower. This recipe uses a blend of an additional 7 botanicals namely Juniper, Coriander, Liquorice Root, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, Cassia Bark and the English country garden Violet flower.
Natural ingredients – colour may fade after prolonged exposure to light.
What flavour is JJ Whitley Violet gin?
earthy sweetness of liquorice root and herbaceous juniper berries.
How do you serve JJ Whitley Violet gin?
Fill a highball with cubed ice; add the J.J. Whitley Violet Gin and tonic water. Squeeze in one of the lime wedges and stir. Garnish with a lime wedge on top. A little too sweet for my taste but if you are after a violet gin this has a strong violet flavour and aroma.
Is violet gin the same as parma violet gin?
most violet gins use the parma violet, but not all of them do. The parma violet is so popular due to the well known British sweets from Swizzels Matlow called Parma Violets.
What tonic goes with JJ Whitley Violet gin?
Fever-Tree Elderflower Tonic is a great pairing.
Where is JJ Whitley gin made?
Liverpool at one of owner’s Halewood International distilleries
