Fay Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars

Category: Bordeaux
A single-vineyard wine from the winery which proved California’s ability to produce world-class wines in 1976 when it beat Bordeaux’s best in a blind tasting by France’s top wine experts; that later became known as the Judgment of Paris. The fruit for this wine comes exclusively from the FAY Vineyard, one of the great sites of the Napa Valley. Named after Nathan Fay, who originally planted it, it was wine from this vineyard that inspired Warren Winiarski to plant vines on the adjoining property, naming it Stag’s Leap Vineyard. FAY has a beautifully open, succulent ‘berry pie’ fruit character, with silky-soft tannins, all of which make it a joy to drink from a young age. This does not mean that it must be drunk young, however – vintages 25 or 30 years old are still going strong and drinking beautifully.
