75cl / 19.5% – This 40-year-old Madeira from Berbeito was made with 100% Malvasia grapes and aged over four decades using the Canteiro method of gradually moving the casks from warmer areas of the warehouses to areas with cooler temperatures. Rich aromas of cedar wood, dark chocolate, prunes, nuts, cinnamon and cloves fill the nose, and the palate brings flavours of fresh berries, dried figs, walnuts, sharp citrus and a bitter edge – a lovely bitter-sweet balance.
