We were thrilled to find this as we have been looking for a while! The beautiful image of the two dogs is one of the most endearing of all whisky advertising. The beautiful advertising piece has a flat back with hanging features, making it perfect for decoration in a whisky bar, home bar, or man cave. This particular item was made in the 1950s. The ornament is made of thick rubber which has been hand-painted. Both dogs have paint loss to the tips of their noses & there is black paint loss on the black dog’s paw & the rim of the base, the white lettering is also suffering from paint loss – all paint loss is due to age & use. The advertising item seems to have added charm because of the paint loss, by using a black Sharpie pen, the loss can be easily hidden. The expression on the faces of the dogs is just lovely, especially their eyes. The dogs are a black Scottish Terrier & a West Highland White Terrier. James Buchanan himself devised the advertising pair in the 1890s, & they are still going strong. Affectionately known as Blackie & Whitey in advertising promotions, these two will cheer up any home bar or whisky bar. A rare chance to own a truly iconic advertising item! The little dogs will be cushioned in bubble wrap, wrapped in tissue, & their box padded with unused fish & chip paper for a safe journey to their new home. We are proud that apart from the necessary bubble wrap, all our packaging is now paper-based & recyclable. We always combine shipping, weight allowing, & refund shipping overages when we dispatch. The item has a small Insurance fee added for the journey, this is due to the value. (already applied at the checkout).
