Antique wooden Tankard / Stein with brass bands Gorgeous looking piece made just like the coopers used to make Barrels Oak ribs are squeezed together using heated brass bands to form a water tight vessel I have not tested this for it’s water retention as it’s very old I did not want to fill it with water but o can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be water tight Two brass bands at the top & bottom with a brass handle The centre of the tankard has a three bands twisted wire decoration going around the piece Someone has clearly loved this piece cleaning the brass with Brasso to make the piece shine remnants of this can be seen as a white residue Green felt base Lovely Hand painted Piece Gorgeous colour to the wood smooth & very tactile Interesting handle to the piece Great colours to the wood polished silky smooth very nice original condition Was part of a wooden collection lot at auction from a old house most of which dates from the Art Deco period so the piece had definite age to it Size 11.5cm high x 6.5cm diameter approx to the base 8.2cm diameter to the top Comes from s smoke free home Please look at the all of the photos as they are part of the description of this item Box5C Antique Wooden Tankard/stein With Brass Bands
