Dear Visitor, Welcome to Boulevard Vintage. You have just looked at a complete unused antique pewter set of 6 mini tankards, small cups made by ITB Norway around the fifties. ITB was located in the Tinn municipality in Norway within Vestfold & Telemark. The company was founded around the thirties. This beautiful set of 6 little cups / mini tankards has a beautiful romantic dance & musical scenery. The set comes in its original box incl. a small matching stirring spoon. This Norwegian tin set is in a mint ANTIQUE condition. The mini tankards all have exactly the same colors. Difficult to record precisely on photo. Much nicer in real. It was Norwegian & Danish craftsmen who turned utilitarian pewter holloware into works of practical art. Scandinavian pewter craftsmen have been producing unique wares since Roman times: Tin & lead mines have been in operation since the third century. Historians believe that the Norsemen gathered copper & other raw materials for their famous metal work on their epic sea voyages. Prior to the 18th century, people considered pewter the poor man’s tableware, a less expensive substitute for silver. Brightly polished, pewter became gradually replaced by serviceable earthenware, then porcelain, in the late 18th century. Craftsmen copied many of the shapes & designs used on their silver pieces directly onto their pewter, creating more decorative gift wares.
