Original Victorian copper measuring jug/pitcher in the sought-after haystack shape with the legend QUART to the front. Made in the traditional method with a broad base, deep lip & large curved handle. Inside the upper rim is the crowned VR (Queen Victoria) mark stamped in lead as verification of the Quart measure. One Quart being the equivalent of 2 pints = 32 fluid ounces. It ensured Innkeepers throughout the land did not cheat their paying customers! The jug is battered & dented as testament to a life spent measuring ale to thirsty drinkers in the 19th century. It’s a splendid item, especially with the QUART label & lead VR stamp. 7.5 tall & 7.5 wide (19 x 19 centimetres) This will be very carefully packaged & shipped to your overseas home by Royal Mail Tracked & Signed Service or Royal Mail Signed Service within the UK. Fully insured door-to-door. Antique English Copper Quart
