A savoury, cedary, chocolatey nose is followed by a lovely, satisfying ‘Châteauneuf du Pape’ sort-of completeness. Not a showy wine, but with impressive sustain and a lovely, savoury, gamey, woody complexity on the finish. At 14.3%, this has restrained alcohol for Barossa (where 15.5% is not unusual), and good but not overt acidity – both of these components do their job, but neither sticks out; integrated and harmonious. Well-balanced and very drinkable!
