Arran Machrie Moor First Edition The first edition release of Arran Machrie Moor, released in 2010 this was Arran’s first attempt at peaty whisky, which they began distilling in 2004. Distilled in 2004 and peated to 14ppm the Machrie Moor first edition was limited to only 9,000 bottles. Machrie Moor is a peaty moorland area on the west coast of Arran famous for its ancient standing stones. The dog depicted on the bottle and tin is called Bran, the companion of Arran’s mythical warrior giant Fingal who is said to have tied Bran to one of the stones. Nose: young, earthy with sweet vanilla, pears and apples – lightly peated Palate: Sweet fruits, banana, spicy but smooth Finish: quite short, but spicy, sweet and fresh finish.
