With an intense, deep cherry red colour, this wine shows great intensity and personality from the first sniff. Both pure and complex, it has very attractive dark fruit and spice aromas, and is well-balanced with soft tannins and a lingering finish to savour. Monastrell (Mourvedre) vines are planted in calcareous soils with low fertility at 700 metres altitude in the valley of Aragona, north of Jumilla. The dry climate with many sunshine hours bring about the perfect combination of ripeness and freshness. Juan Gil vineyards are maintained sustainably, with respect for the local ecosystem: generating their own power and collecting water, and are now completely ‘off-grid’. The state-of-the-art winery is located among the vineyards, to minimise ‘grape miles’ for the benefit of both the environment and wine quality.
