Impetus Vintage Brut 2015, De Chanceny

This is an awesome Loire sparkling wine – no surprise that the 2011 vintage won a Platinum medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards. The nose is a sublime combination of beautiful delicacy with both richness and complexity: honey, golden apple, ripe pear and crystallised ginger are apparent. In the mouth, it is rich and intense, with rounded, full-bodied texture; kept refreshing by Chenin Blanc’s hallmark acidity. The flavours fade gradually, with green apple, lemon and honey on the finish. This impressive, intense sparkling wine is quite a bargain.
